A Silicate-Free Finishing System for High-Traffic Slabs

E5® Catalyst is a silicate-free topical system used only with E5® Internal Cure. Applied during finishing, it conditions the surface for flooring by controlling moisture migration and surface pH, while creating an extremely hard, dense, and abrasion-resistant wear layer with improved flatness and levelness.

Adhesive-Ready Surface Conditioning

Controls surface moisture migration and pH to support flooring adhesives and reduce alkalinity-related failures.

Extremely Hard, Dense Wear Surface

Increases pozzolanic reactivity at the surface to form permanent, insoluble bonds—built for high-traffic slabs.

Smoother Troweling, Less Drag

Produces a micro-grout that reduces drag so finishing feels smooth and controlled, with less finisher fatigue.

Immediate Access, No Traditional Curing

When paired with Internal Cure, the system removes traditional curing steps and helps keep projects moving.

Cleaner Jobsite Profile

Non-hazardous, biodegradable, and Zero VOC—safer for crews and facilities.

Technical Data & Application

E5® Catalyst is engineered to react with E5® Internal Cure. It is a ready-to-use product and should not be diluted or blended with other products.

Technical Specifications

Application

Apply E5® Catalyst using a low-pressure pump sprayer after the floating process or first combination pass. Spray the concrete surface, holding the tip 18-24 inches (30-60 cm) above the surface and moving side to side to achieve even distribution.

Packaging

The product is available in pails (5 gallons), drums (55 gallons), and totes (275 gallons).

Storage

It has a shelf life of 18 months in its original unopened container. It should be stored in a well-ventilated, cool, and dry location between 40°F and 130°F (4°C and 54°C). It is extremely important to protect it from freezing, direct sunlight, and UV exposure.

Not a Generic Finishing Aid

Follow Catalyst directions; do not substitute with unrelated topicals.

Optimized for Your Role

For Engineers and Architects

The product provides a solution for achieving superior abrasion resistance, flatness, and levelness, which are critical for high-traffic slabs and for a smooth and effortless troweling. It also controls surface pH, which is ideal for floor coverings.

For General Contractors

When combined with E5® Internal Cure, this system can accelerate the construction schedule and reduce costly change orders. This addresses key challenges related to project management and timelines.

For Finishers

E5® Catalyst reduces drag and produces a micro grout, making troweling smoother and effortless. This can lead to less user fatigue and lower equipment maintenance costs.

For Developers and Government

The product's ability to control moisture and pH helps to proactively manage high-traffic slabs, which can eliminate business disruption and loss of revenue in a completed project.
