Brownsburg High School is a public high school in Brownsburg, Indiana, serving grades 9–12. Known for strong academics and modern facilities, it offers Advanced Placement courses, career prep programs, and a wide range of extracurriculars. A recent expansion upgraded classrooms, labs, and athletic spaces. Home of the Bulldogs, the school competes in the 6A division and is part of the Hoosier Crossroads Conference.
Renovation work had to integrate seamlessly with existing structures while delivering a slab ready for terrazzo in classrooms, labs, and public areas. The team needed reliable moisture mitigation during curing, improved bonding to existing concrete, and flatness control for a level, durable finish in high-traffic spaces like the auditorium, kitchen, cafeteria, and athletic facilities.
The project implemented E5® Internal Cure to retain mix water for continued hydration—supporting bond development, mitigating moisture during cure, and improving flatness. The approach created a stable, level foundation across the expansion, particularly where terrazzo and performance-critical areas demanded predictable results.
Built-In Performance: The E5® System Behind the Results. This project’s outcomes weren’t accidental—they were engineered into the slab. By pairing the right admixtures and surface systems, we delivered internal curing, faster access, and a harder, more resilient finish that stands up to real-world demands.
Internal curing admixture that supports ongoing hydration, improves flatness, and mitigates moisture during cure for terrazzo-ready slabs.
Renovation/expansion footprint requiring consistent moisture control and flatness for extensive terrazzo.
By choosing plant-dosed E5® Internal Cure, the team supported continued hydration without added wet-curing steps, simplifying sequencing and enabling steady progress through occupied-campus constraints. The internal-cure approach reduced rework risks tied to moisture and helped crews achieve flatness targets faster for terrazzo installation across multiple phases and spaces.
Terrazzo floors across classrooms, corridors, and public spaces demanded a dense, level substrate with consistent FF/FL and controlled moisture during cure. The slab had to bond reliably to existing structures and deliver long-term durability for heavy foot traffic and rolling loads in areas like the auditorium, science labs, kitchen, cafeteria, and athletic facilities.
The renovation leveraged E5® Internal Cure to solve three core risks at once: bonding new concrete to existing, mitigating moisture during cure, and improving flatness for terrazzo. The result was a cohesive, terrazzo-ready surface across the 517,000 Sqft expansion with stable performance in critical academic and public areas.
Better bonding: Supported integration of new and existing concrete across large program areas.
Moisture control during cure: Helped maintain slab integrity and finish quality required for terrazzo.
Flatness & stability: Provided the level substrate needed for kitchens, cafeterias, athletic facilities, and labs.
